Overview

1515 Broadway is an iconic 54-story office tower located between 44th and 45th Streets in the bowtie of Times Square within the Broadway theatre district in New York, NY. With an unrivaled location and the proximity and convenience of public transportation access, the building is a marquee of Times Square. 1515 Broadway serves as the international headquarters for media giant Viacom/CBS and is also the home of the famous Minskoff Theatre, which houses the Disney musical “The Lion King”.

SIG initially began working at 1515 Broadway in 2016 as part of a general sustainability strategy for owner and manager, SL Green. In 2017, the building elected to pursue LEED v3 EB: O+M certification. For this effort, SIG provided the LEED consulting and engineering scopes. Water efficiency was a highlight of the LEED application, with the high efficiency flush and flow fixtures allowing the building to show a 40% water use reduction. Occupant comfort is also a highlight of the property as many building occupants have access to their own lighting controls and views of the NYC skyline. SIG’s engineering team also provided Retro-Commissioning scope for 1515 Broadway, helping the property to comply with NYC’s Local Law 87 Retro-Commissioning requirements for commercial office buildings.

1515 Broadway achieved LEED Gold certification in July 2017. SIG has provided sustainability strategy and LEED recertification tracking for 1515 Broadway since 2017, and is currently providing full LEED recertification consulting and engineering scope. The building is anticipated to recertify at LEED Gold in mid-2022.
