Overview
Saranac Lake Resort is a LEED v4 BD+C Hospitality project located in Saranac Lake, NY, pursuing a Certified level certification. The 80,000 sf hotel will have 93 queen- and king-sized rooms, a 120-seat lakeside pub with boat docking availability, a 24-seat upscale restaurant, a 200-person ballroom and event space that overlooks the lake, on-site boat rentals and tours, a fitness center, 100 parking spaces, a pool, hot tubs, fire pits, bicycle racks, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Energy Model calculations resulted in a 15% energy savings in compared to the LEED v4 baseline. A life cycle cost analysis was completed to evaluate the potential impact the design and building materials will have on natural resources, ecosystems, and human health, using ISO 14044-compliant data sets related to the project location. Additionally, the ownership team is implementing four LEED for Existing Buildings operational policies as an Innovations approach as well as the new Safety First: Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Space pilot credit released in response to COVID-19. Saranac Lake Resort’s soft opening was in October 2020, and LEED Certification is expected in 2021.
