Overview

The Riverfront Hotel Indigo is a 60,000 square foot, 91-key full-service hotel located in Tuscaloosa, AL. The five-story facility includes 91 guestrooms, meeting space, a terrace and bar area with back-of-house space, office space (manager’s office, and sales), and a front lobby. The hotel’s location near the University of Alabama and the existing Riverfront Village mixed-use complex allowed for a connection to the community, becoming the Tuscaloosa area’s first LEED certified hotel.

Built in 2016, the hotel focused heavily on energy efficiency, eventually showing a 28% energy savings over the baseline. For the building’s construction materials, over 35% contained recycled content and over 70% were manufactured and extracted regionally (within 500 miles). Green building tours are held twice annually at the hotel. The building achieved LEED BD+C v2009 Silver certification in June 2017. SIG provided LEED Consulting, Fundamental Commissioning, and Energy Modeling services for this project.
