2023 Best in Building Health badge | FitwelNew York City, March 23, 2023 – Today, Fitwel announced that Sustainable Investment Group (SIG) & Cushman & Wakefield as property manager have been awarded the Highest Scoring Viral Response Module, and SIG with Atlanta Property Group as owner has been awarded as the Highest Score: Commercial Site v2.1 (built). Best in Building Health honors best-in-class real estate companies and individuals who are leading the healthy building movement by example, leveraging Fitwel’s data-driven, scalable technology platform to set the bar for excellence in building health.

Created in partnership with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and operated by nonprofit research organization, Center for Active Design (CfAD), Fitwel is a people-centric healthy building certification system that sets the industry standard for evidence-based strategies to promote health and wellness through the built environment. Fitwel’s data-driven platform integrates asset and portfolio-level benchmarking, a streamlined healthy building certification process, and “S” focused ESG reporting guidance.

This year, Fitwel introduced a special recognition award featuring a company that has demonstrated its commitment to implementing practices that impact the “S” – Social – in ESG. In addition to companies, BiBH spotlights individuals from Fitwel’s global community of 3,800+ Ambassadors – made up of architects, sustainability professionals, engineers, and designers – for their efforts in high-scoring healthy building certifications, among other achievements.

“At SIG we have found our clients’ focus increase around occupant comfort and health. Utilizing Fitwel as a launching pad to improve and showcase their efforts, these spaces are optimizing wellbeing. Since 2018 we have been promoting and certifying spaces through Fitwel, and we are honored to be awarded among our client’s high achievements.” – Jenn Mahon, Director of Sustainability, Wellness (SIG)

“The past few years have been transformational, revealing unprecedented challenges and opportunities for the world, and in particular, the real estate industry and healthy building movement,” said Joanna Frank, President and CEO of CfAD. “As Sustainable Investment Group’s achievements have demonstrated, prioritizing health is no longer a reactive market trend – it’s an established business imperative that represents an opportunity for real estate to mitigate risk and maximize investment.”

Kicking off today with the announcement of Best in Building Health winners, the 2023 BiBH celebration will continue throughout the year as Fitwel continues to amplify its winners’ achievements on digital and print mediums. This year, Fitwel will launch its inaugural issue of Building Health, a print publication that will include feature stories about BiBH winners, as well as deliver meaningful industry insights and trends into the healthy building movement, analyzing its evolution and substantiating the value and impact of health-centric “S” strategies in ESG reporting.
