Jiasi Liu works with Sustainable Investment Group’s Sustainability team as an ESG Analyst Intern. She assists in supporting corporate ESG efforts that promote comprehensive sustainable business practices and performance in environmental, social, and governance issues. Her main responsibilities include supporting project coordinators in gathering documentation and evaluating the ESG policies of various REITs under GRESB, CDP, GRI, and SASB frameworks, assisting in writing portions of the GRESB and CDP Adherence, and writing about sustainability initiatives and progress within a GRI Content Index.
Jiasi is a recent grad from the Dual Bachelor Degree program between Sciences Po Paris & UC Berkeley, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Humanities and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Economics & Policy. Her academic interests span natural resource economics, political ecology, and art and architectural history. She will be pursuing a joint JD/BCL at McGill University in the fall.
Spurred by an interest in development, Jiasi worked as an intern at the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve in China, an experience which piqued her curiosity in environmental policy. Since then, she has had research assistant roles in the Department of Art History and Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at UC Berkeley. She is passionate about environmental justice and her own research focuses on the political economy of resource extraction and its disproportionate environmental burdens on Indigenous communities.
Jiasi enjoys diving into a good book, listening to music, and tending to her plants. She is based in San Diego this summer and hopes that she can learn how to surf while she explores Southern California!
