Heading To The Hill for Greenbuild 2015

photo of the U.S. Capital | Greenbuild 2015 This year the Greenbuild 2015 International Conference and Expo will be held in Washington, DC at the Washington Convention Center November 18-20. This exciting annual event is a great opportunity for attendees to learn and interact with today’s leaders in sustainable building and green development. The first two days will also include an expo with innovators from across several industries and fields. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and learn from a wide range of talented professionals with a common commitment to environmentally sound energy and development solutions. Sustainable Investment Group (SIG) will be sending a team of six to represent our company at the convention. As always, the purpose of this conference is to bring together the best and brightest in the industry today to address environmental impact, sustainable operations practices, and positive community outreach. Greenbuild helps to educate and inspire conference attendees so that they can tackle these issues with the vision and information to act in today’s global economy.

Here are just a few of the highlights of Greenbuild 2015:

The Opening Plenary speakers this year will be the award winning filmmaker James Cameron and Mika Brzezinski, a best-selling author and host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, for a discussion titled: What Will it Take to Get Meaningful Action on Climate Change?

Returning attendees will be pleased to see the return of the Net Zero Energy Zone, an unprecedented and highly interactive presentation center which combines hybrid ac/dc microgrid displays with live presenters and exhibits to create an experience unlike any other trade show.

In addition to fantastic presenters, conference attendees can also participate in a number of more focused workshops, often while earning continuing education or LEED-specific hours. These workshops will cover various topics ranging from green energy development and building design to project management and integrated design.

The fourth annual Women in Green Power Breakfast’s discussion will center on the role that gender plays in mentorship.

There is a whole line up of Green Building Tours scheduled on Monday, Friday afternoon, and then all day Saturday. Here are a just few of the many interesting tours being offered:

  • Preserving History: Reimagining a Building’s Potential
  • Government Green: Sustainability in the Nation’s Capital
  • Pushing Toward NetZero

As a special treat for this year’s attendees, indie-rock/neo-soul artists Fitz and the Tantrums will be performing at the event. There’s going to be a lot of work to do, but plenty of time for fun, too.

SIG team member attendees—Monica, Ashish, Asa, Collin, Scott, and Michael are gearing up for their trip and hope to see you in DC! Contact SIG if you would like to set up a meeting with one of us there.
