At GREENBUILD 2016, we will celebrate the icons of our industry in the iconic city of Los Angeles, CA. As the largest international conference and expo on sustainable building, GREENBUILD brings together leaders in the industry as well as professionals and experts that specialize in green building. Throughout the event there are opportunities to listen to speakers, witness showcases, attend workshops, and tour the iconic green buildings in the City of Angels. With over 600 suppliers and manufacturers, various professionals, government officials, and educators, GREENBUILD has something for everyone.
Held at the Los Angeles Conference Center, the official dates for the expo are October 5-6 with the conference running October 5-7. However, activities begin October 3 with tours and workshops, and October 4 features workshops, a builders forum, the international summit, the communities and affordable homes summit, and WaterBuild, a daylong summit that focuses on water in California highlighting on-site reuse of water, and the impact water shortages have on communities. Additionally, on October 8 there are half-day tours available.
The 2016 plenary and celebration is host to some incredible talent and prominent leaders. The opening plenary will start with California’s Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom and USGBC’s CEO Rick Fedrizzi, and close with Sebastian Junger, a journalist and award-winning author. But the night will not end there as the celebration includes music by Aloe Blacc and alternative rock group X Ambassadors. The closing plenary will highlight what is to come over the next year featuring the incoming USGBC CEO Mahesh Ramanujam and Bjarke Ingels, architect and innovator.
Education is always a major theme at GREENBUILD, and this year is no different with an abundance of workshops, the research program, the master series sessions, the various summits, and a multitude of continuing education opportunities. Attendees can earn credit for multiple designations throughout the event. But the education is not just for those in need of CE. The GBCI certification work zone presents an opportunity for attendees to discuss problems, gather general information, or get one-on-one assistance.
Other highlights for GREENBUILD include the film festival, the solar job fair, and the 5th annual Women in Green Power Breakfast, which will focus on women’s roles and their impact as agents of change. Additionally, a new pavilion for health and wellness will explore the challenges and successes green building has on health.
