Position Title: Building Performance Analyst

General Summary 

The Building Performance Analyst reports directly to the Associate Director of Energy – Decarbonization and supports SIG’s Engineering Department. Plans, leads and manages a variety of energy modeling projects and related assignments. Knowledge of ASHRAE Standards 90.1 and 62.1, LEED BD+C, ID+C required. The ideal candidate will have experience energy modeling projects in IESVE and should demonstrate the ability to work independently in a deadline focused environment. 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Manage multiple Energy Modeling projects (primarily for LEED) but assignments may also include to a lesser degree, LCAs, Daylight models, Energy Audits, ENERGY STAR, LEED EB and other related studies.
  • Develop Energy Models and related studies for a variety of project types including LEED, ZNE, electrification and other decarbonization projects.
  • Build geometries, load profiles and HVAC systems in IES VE.
  • Develop LEED documentation, reports and presentations for energy modeling projects.
  • Lead project meetings and create a forum for collaboration between project team members.
  • Become familiar with SIG’s core technical services and gain on-site experience with team members.
  • Maintain project schedules and budgets for multiple projects on different timelines.
  • Contribute fresh ideas for better efficiency and to streamline processes.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain and grow your professional credentials.
  • Participate in ASHRAE/AEE or other industry association’s steering opportunities.
  • Research and provide content to SIG University’s peer education Lunch & Learn sessions.
  • Contribute opinions to company growth strategy, marketing, and business development.
  • Project travel expected (5-10%) nationwide
  • Track short and long-term personal and professional goals throughout the year.
  • Provide training to members of the team as well as clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Be apprised of status of projects, including issues – provide advice, best practices, tips to discussing situations with clients, and more.
  • Provide and request feedback (positive and constructive) to team members in a timely manner on their work.
  • Complete Oracle OpenAir timesheets, 15Five reports and expense reports weekly in a timely manner.
  • Track short and long-term personal and professional goals throughout the year.
  • Participate in in-person company events for workshops, team building, etc.
  • Report directly to the Associate Director of Energy – Decarbonization.

What We’re Looking For 

  • 3+ years of experience Energy Modeling
  • Experience developing models for LEED projects required
  • Experience developing energy models in IESVE required
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or related area of study preferred.
  • Someone who has a passion for green buildings and sustainability and decarbonization; independently driven to learn new systems and skills to improve the built environment.
  • Someone who has some familiarity with LEED rating systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, self-guided with the ability to deliver results in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent communications skills; both oral and written.
  • Team player, who is interested and willing to support the growth and health of SIG’s Decarbonization Dept and broader Engineering Dept.
