Earth Week is always a busy time for Sustainable Investment Group (SIG), and 2017 was no exception. Here is a brief recap of our activities in New York, and what we did to help celebrate Earth Day and Earth Week with our clients.
Earth Week in New York
SIG’s, Asa Posner, spent his Earth Week supporting lobby events at multiple buildings in New York City including 1350 Avenue of the Americas, 100 Church Street, 900 Third Avenue, 31 West 52nd Street and 712 5th Avenue, 1633 Broadway and 745 5th Avenue, 461 5th Avenue, 1515 Broadway, and 1301 Avenue of the Americas.
Monday 4/17
- Conducted Transportation + Occupant Comfort surveys at 1350 Avenue of the Americas (SL Green) to support their LEED EB: O+M certification effort. The goal was to determine what percentage of occupants are using alternative transportation during a typical work week, as well as gauge occupant comfort in the building as it relates to temperature, noise, lighting, air quality, and cleanliness.
- Helped to promote durable goods recycling at 1350 Avenue of the Americas by encouraging tenants to use the CFL lamp and battery recycling boxes in the lobby. Also helped to promote the used sports equipment donation initiative, a partnership between the NHL and SL Green, by directing building occupants to donate their used sports equipment in the green hockey goal set up in the lobby.

Additionally, the building gave out tree saplings to building occupants donated by the Arbor Day foundation and raffled off an “Earth Basket” containing several eco-friendly products. SIG had several Earth Day freebies to give away, including chip clips and cups made from recycled plastic, pens, bookmarks, and coasters made from recycled tires.
